Can i put my taxco silver vintage jewelry in a liquid solution-style jewelry cleaner?

It has some blueish/greenish colored areas ,but I have no idea if that's turquoise or some tinted enamel. How should I clean the silver? Should I ume it's sterling silver? Does that make a difference? It's old and badly tarnished...thanks!
