Your question really doesn't match your hypothesis. Saying that "man is the ultimate authority" is ANTI-religous. Religious people believe that there is a higher power than man. It also seems to me that you are experiencing feelings of inadequacy when it comes to your personal accomplishments. These feelings aren't being subconsciously implanted in your thinking; inadequacy is a common problem that we all face at one time or another. All humans should strive to be great or greater than what they currently are, otherwise what is the point in life?
