Does anyone know what this could possibly be?

My dog started having bumps appear on his face, eyes, and body and his face was VERY swollen. We took him to the vet, the doctor couldn't see him because he was acting "vicious" and the only choice was to put him to sleep, yet the vet we have took him to before they put a muzzle on him. They checked him from a distance and said it was hives, The veterinarian said that prednisone and benadryl would help, and sent him saying it was just hives. Well this morning he was doing fine, more hives popped up on his body, but the swelling on his face went down alot. The last time we gave him the benadryl and prednisone was around 8-12 hours ago, but we also bathed him in green tea, we searched it "how to soothe hives on digs" & it helped alot but, Right now it has gotten alot worst, his eyes are blood shot red and swollen, his ears are inflamed, his chest is very red, his glands look swollen, and when he breathes it's very short, like it's really hard to or he can't. He threw up, a very large pile. He's a hyper active dog, and he's not acting his self; we have to pick him up to get him on the bed (usually he jumps up there fine), he cant sleep, and he keeps shaking his head lightly like his ears are really bothering him. My dad is taking him to the vet now, but do you have an idea what this is? Please help!
