Am I being irrational asking for this?

ok, so I jus lost my job an with that went my health insurance. before I lost my job I'd seen my regular physician for excruciating pain in my shoulder, and, he prescribed me to take some oxycodone during my wait for the next appointment he scheduled me for. Problem, is, I lost my job before my next appointment then I ran out of medication. So, I'm native american and went to an indian health service hospital cuz it's free for me, and figured I could schedule an appointment with their orthopedist and get a new prescription for the meds. I was wrong, I got the appointment scheduled, and despite my informing them of the previous medication I'd been prescribed, and that I'd been prescribed so because of a tolerance to opioids I'd developed, the doctor prescribed me hydrocodone. I've had no relief with this medicine, seeing as I was taking 40mg of oxycodone every 12 hours, to taking only 5mg of hydrocodone, which is already weaker than oxy, every 6 hours. I asked for it again, but, the doctor snapped at me, and told me in a very demeaning way that all I was gonna get out of her was hydro, as if I'm some junkie trying to get a fix. Am I wrong for continuing to ask her for this? I feel helpless, in so much pain, and am considering paying to go see another doctor
